A large male mountain lion was crouching behind him ready to pounce. Luckily, he turned around at the right moment and dodged it while it was in the middle of the pounce. He drew his bow ready for a fight. Dodging the outstretched claw of the huge mountain lion, he got an arrow out of his quiver. He knotched it and let it fly it flew into the lions chest just as the lion landed upon him.
He had done it! He had defeated a mountain lion in combat. He had proved his skills as a great hunter. He walked over and looked over the dead body of the lion. The arrow was gone and a large green stone had taken its place. He walked over and examined it. As he touched it, the world went black.
He woke up in the highland plains of Scotland.

Prologue
A boy about eighteen was crossing a small creek in search of the greatest kill of his life a mountain lion. He could hear the small croak of frogs as they hid from him as he crossed the creek. His belly rumbled he frowned as he thought to himself, I haven't eaten since six in the morning. He stumbled over a stone and fell down into the creek. He looked up and smiled as he saw a female mountain lion sleeping under a small outcropping of rock. He reached for the longbow that was strapped firmly to his back. He reached back into his quiver and pulled out his favorite white feathered arrow.
This arrow his father had given him the night before he left on his rite of passage into the adults of his highland village. He shot the arrow swift and true it pierced the female lions heart. The mountain lion died instantly from the blow from the arrow. He walked over to the carcass of the dead female mountain lion and as he studied his kill he saw three crying mountain lion cubs hiding under their mothers body. He thought to himself their crying will probably attract the mate. To his surprise he was right.
